How to Use Google Ads to Help Improve Your SEO

Can you use Google Ads to Help Improve your SEO?

Yes, you can, and let me show you.

As a small business owner, you know it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to succeed. And with the competition constantly growing, it's more important than ever to make your advertising budget work as hard as possible.

Believe it or not, Google Ads can help you with your SEO efforts by giving you valuable insight into what people are searching for on the web.

This insight can help improve your visibility on the web and help you gain more customers.

Using Google Ads Keyword Planner for SEO

One of the best ways to use Google Ads for SEO is using the Keyword Planner.

The Keyword Planner is a tool that allows you to research keywords and get traffic estimates for those keywords. You can use the Keyword Planner to find new keywords related to your products or services or get traffic estimates.

To access the Keyword Planner, click on the "Tools" icon in the top menu of your Google Ads account. Then, select "Keyword Planner" from the drop-down menu.

You'll be prompted to do so if you're not already signed in to your Google Ads account. Once you're signed in, you'll be taken to the Keyword Planner tool.

You can use these keywords in your ads to help increase your visibility and reach more potential customers on the Google search engine.

However, you can go one step further…

Take a look at the suggested keywords in the planner.

  • Are there any questions you could answer with a blog post?
  • Are there keywords that perhaps might be people only researching and you want to build up organic traffic for?
  • Are there any services you do that you don't have content on your website for?

This is all great information for you to take away and work on to improve your SEO efforts.

And you can go one step even further….

Using Google Ads Keyword Planner as a content checker

If you select "use website" and take out any keywords, then Google will go and scan your website and come back with a list of keywords it thinks you should use.

Some results may need to be taken with a pinch of salt, but it is a great measuring stick for how your website text features the keywords you want to show up for.

If you are seeing keywords that are not relevant to your business, this may indicate you need to work on the content of your website.

Another great way to use Google Ads for SEO is your search terms report

This report will show the terms people have been searching for on Google that have triggered your ad and hopefully led them to your website (if they clicked the ad).

To find your search terms report in Google Ads, go to the Keywords tab and click on the Search Terms button. This will bring up a report that shows you all the terms people have used to find your ad. From here, you can add negative keywords to help improve your campaign's performance.

You can also use these terms in your web copy or blog posts to attract more potential customers.

As you can see, Google Ads can be a valuable tool to help improve your SEO efforts. The keyword planner can give you insights into what people are searching for online, and the search terms report can show you the terms people have been searching for that have triggered your ad. You can use this information to improve your organic visibility on the web and reach more potential customers.
