10 Ideas to Market Your Business this Christmas

For many businesses, the holidays are the busiest time of year, particularly if you sell physical products to consumers. It’s therefore so important to plan your marketing strategy to ensure you maximize those sales. Keep reading this blog post to discover ten ideas to market your business this holiday.

1. Landing page

Your landing page is where visitors arrive on your website. It should be designed to drive visitors to take action and convert them into customers. But people are busy this time of year so it's important to ensure your key products are easily accessible, the checkout process is smooth, your website is easy to navigate and people are updated with delivery information after they have purchased.

New customers this time of year could be regular ones next year. Make it easy for them to buy!

2. Email marketing campaign

Email marketing is a great way to reach your customers, provide value, and build relationships. It’s also a great way to communicate with them and promote your products and services.

3. Reward customer loyalty

Whilst this time of year can bring lots of new customers, it's also important to focus on your existing ones. What preferential offer can you extend to them? Perhaps free delivery or an exclusive discount?

4. Video Marketing

We all know how much the social media channels love video marketing, but so do your customers. Can you create a video that showcases your products, or a video of your offers and deals? Perhaps you're running a promotional giveaway? And of course, videos of you demonstrating products always work well.

5. Social media presence

This is the big one. Social media is a great way to reach your audience and promote your business to existing customers as well as potential customers. But this time of year is so busy that you need to stand out with some great social media content by creating gifs, memes and other shareables for your customers and followers.

It's also a good idea to make sure your social media profile links are up to date. Don't forget to research relevant hashtags. Finally create a social media post schedule in advance so you know what you're posting (and when!).

6. Create a gift guide

This is a great way to showcase your products and make it easily accessible to customers. It's also shareable via your email list and social media. You can do this easily on a separate page of your website.

7. Deals and incentives

Give customers incentives to shop early, or offer a discount when they buy before a certain date. Perhaps offer free shipping on purchases over a certain amount. Maybe you are able to offer guaranteed delivery dates for last-minute shoppers who need their items in time for the holidays?

Order bumps also work really at this time of year, as not only do they increase revenue significantly, but give more visibility to products that might not otherwise be seen by customers. Finally, can you create product bundles that are only available during the holidays? Think about items that work together and would make a great gift set rather than just an individual item. You can find these by looking at your top selling items, then bundling together complimentary items.

8. PPC

Most of us don't have the advertising budgets like John Lewis and Sainsbury's, but that shouldn't stop you from thinking about paid advertising - just on a smaller scale.

For example, Google's remarketing ads are a feature that lets you customise your campaigns for people who have previously visited your site. As with any PPC campaign, it's essential to know your target audience so that your message is on point and resonating with the right demographic - something companies like Sainburys do exceptionally well.

9. Cross-promote

Teaming up with another small business that compliments your own business is a great opportunity for you both. Double the social media promotion and provide you both with the opportunity to reach new audiences.

10. Gift cards

Gift cards are an excellent way to boost your sales. They can be used in-store or online, making them versatile and convenient for customers. Gift cards can also be used as a marketing tool; you can incentivize people with a special deal if they spend a certain amount of money on gift cards. This helps build customer loyalty and increase sales in the long run.

In conclusion, there are a variety of tactics you can use to market your business during the holidays and in addition to these, I would also suggest looking at what has worked well for you in previous years. Was there a social media post that was shared more than others? And as always, your marketing will be seen and heard much more effectively if you understand your target audience and deliver your brand in a way that genuinely resonates with them.
