How to Hire the Right Google Ads Specialist

So, you're thinking about hiring a Google Ads specialist. Great! But how can you be sure that the person knocking on your door (or email inbox) is the right one for you?

Below, I'll cover a few key things to remember as you start your search.

1. Set expectations upfront

The first step is to sit down and consider your expectations.

  • What kind of results are you hoping to see?
  • What's your planned budget?
  • How much are you prepared to pay per lead or sale?

Answering these questions will help you rule out any Google Ads Specialists that aren't a good fit for you and your business.

For example, if you are working with a large budget and the Google Ads Specialist has exposure only to small budgets, you may want to keep looking for someone with the right experience.

Also, if you are clear on the results you want to see from your investment, they should be able to clearly state if they would be able to meet those expectations or not.

It may be that your expectations are not in line with the competitive space, but the right PPC Specialist for you will be able to communicate this and work with you to set the right expectations.

2. Do your research

Before making any decisions, it's essential to do your research and ask around.

Talk to other business owners who have used Google Ads specialists in the past — get their recommendations.

An excellent person to ask is your web designer, too. They often have had to recommend other clients to a PPC Specialist, so they will likely have a few on their radar.

Once you've compiled a list of potential candidates, take some time to read online reviews and check out each specialist's website and social media platforms.

Most PPC Specialists will have a particular platform they work best in. These will be platforms like Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and Facebook Ads.

Some may also have a specific type of client they work with – it's good to clarify.

3. Ask for (and check) references

When you've narrowed your choices, it's time to chat with potential contenders.

One of the most important things to do during this process is to ask for — and check — references.

A good PPC Specialist should be able to provide you with a list of happy clients who are willing to vouch for their work. When reached out to, these clients should be able to give you specific examples of how the specialist helped them reach their goals.

4. Make sure they're certified

Another vital thing to look for is certification — specifically, Google Ads certification.

This is only given to individuals who have demonstrated proficiency in Google Ads and passed a rigorous exam.

Getting certified requires ongoing effort and commitment, so you can be sure that anyone who has gone through the process is serious about their craft.

5 . Trust your gut

Finally, after all the research has been done and all the boxes have been checked, it's essential to trust your gut feeling.

It probably is if something feels off or too good to be true.

Hiring someone should feel like finding the perfect puzzle piece — it just clicks into place.

If it doesn't, keep looking until you find someone whose work makes you excited about the future of your business.

Taking these steps will help ensure that you find a Google Ads specialist who is best suited for your needs and will help you achieve your desired results.

Happy hunting!
